Thank you for visiting. I do take it personally.

Art is personal. Like all artists, I am working out my feelings and issues about life. And as you get to know my work you will see that I love to point out the little things, to urge people to look around and notice that they are surrounded by interesting lines, shapes, and textures. And that means there's a lot to notice. Nature has it all.

I have an art school background in printmaking and painting, and a little ceramics. I was seriously into Art Quilts for a decade or so, and then I got a gorgeous clay studio to work in. There's nothing like working in clay. I am mostly self taught- in the school of trial and error- which is really the only way to learn.

My process for making clay vessels starts with printmaking and painting techniques- I roll out a slab, mark the surface with textures and design, start the color work, and then build it into a 3-D object. You may notice my quilting influence in my "stitches" along the "seam allowances" and in the pieced designs. Many organic forms find their way into my work-- such as wild flowers, ferns, leaves, corn husks, and nuts and sticks.

I also am doing some figurative sculpture using coil and pinch methods- I guess this is my "cutting edge" work. If I have 50 more years I will just be getting started. Life is grand.

So take a look at my work. It's personal. And if you want to get in touch with me here is my email:
